Description
ARA-290, also known as cibinetide, is a synthetic 11-amino-acid peptide derived from the helix-B surface region of erythropoietin (EPO). It was developed for research into EPO-associated tissue-protective signalling without the red-blood-cell-stimulating activity of full-length EPO.
ARA-290 is studied for its interaction with the innate repair receptor, a receptor complex associated with cellular responses to injury and inflammation. Preclinical and early-stage clinical research has investigated cibinetide in areas including nerve-fibre damage, neuropathic symptoms, metabolic dysfunction, retinal disease and tissue repair. These findings remain investigational and do not establish ARA-290 as an approved or proven treatment for any medical condition.
