Description
Kisspeptin refers to a family of naturally occurring peptide fragments produced from the KISS1 gene. These peptides bind to the KISS1 receptor, also known as GPR54, and play a central role in regulating the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal reproductive axis.
Kisspeptin is studied for its ability to stimulate gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which can subsequently influence the release of luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Research areas include reproductive hormone signalling, puberty, fertility, hypothalamic amenorrhoea and ovulation-related pathways.
